Real Mind Reading – What If?

Here’s a fascinating concept.  What if you could really read minds?  What if all of a sudden, you woke up this morning and you now had direct access to the thoughts of every person you came in contact with?  How would that change you?  What if you were able to effortlessly sift through the minds of anybody and everybody?  Imagine a world where you would be able to tell the true nature of every person you came in contact with.  Can you envision being able to look past the public façade that most people put up.

Just think for a second about all of your private thoughts and memories that you never want anybody to know about.  Would some of them scare people?  Would the discovery of these thoughts and memories change how people see you?  Everybody has thoughts and memories such as these.  If you were to have access to all of these memories and thoughts from the people surrounding you – if you were to know every deep and dark thought that a person has, you would more than likely go mad.  If you weren’t driven insane by a deeper understanding of the duplicitous nature of humans, then you would at least probably become heavily dependent upon alcohol or drugs to cope with it all.

If you did somehow manage to overcome the anxiety and fear that such a condition might create, how would you live your life?  Would you openly admit that you have this ability?  Would people begin to fear and loathe you if they realized that you had unlimited access to their minds?  Would you try to take advantage of this ability?

Perhaps you would try to hide in plain sight as a stage performer or a psychic reader?  You might even try to make what you do look a bit more contrived, or a bit more like a “trick” in fear that you might quickly be discovered for what you really were.

Now we can take this in a completely different direction.  What if you were able to read minds from birth?  How would that have changed your life?  You’re upbringing would have undoubtedly been different.  What would your parents have thought when they discovered your ability?  Where would you have gone to school?  Would you have been sent to a mental institution at a young age?  What would have been the result of doctors and psychiatrists discovering your ability?  Would they have told others?  Or would they have been too afraid of you telling people their secrets?  Would they have tried to eliminate you?  What type of life would you be leading today?  What stories would you have to tell now that you have grown.

A fascinating concept!
